The body Beautiful SA 2009 Competition is just around the corner. Have you entered yet? Are you coming? When entering competitions it is always good to know who you are up against. But perhaps more importantly to know who the judges are. Well meet Samantha Vicent, who will be one of the judges.
My sporting career started off at the tender age of 7years old when I commenced my first Tumbling Gymnastics class. Little did i realise that 16 years ago this interest would have blossomed into a passion for Gymnastics.
- In 1993 at the age of 9, I obtained my Gauteng North provincial colours in Tumbling Gymnastics at that same year was National champion in my age group.
- 1994 – 2004, I obtained my Gauteng North provincial colours for 10 consecutive years accompanied by numerous National titles as overall winner
- In 1997 at the age of 13, I was awarded my JNR South African colours in Tumbling gymnastics, I represented South African at the World Trampoline & Tumbling Games later that same year and finished 14th out of 40 participants.
- I was awarded my South African colours again in 2001, 2003 and 2005.
- I am qualified as a National Judge & Coach for Tumbling Gymnastics. I have coached and a handful l of up and coming Olympic development gymnasts.
- In 2004 i went over to Hancock, NY in the USA to teach gymnastics at a Sports Summer Camp academy for 6months.
I am truly passionate about Gymnastics and believe that “falling off the gym track isn’t what matters, it’s getting back on the track and trying the same manoeuvre again that counts”
Apart from Gymnastics, swimming was my second love.
- I commenced swimming in 1997 in order for me to be able to take part in swimming in 1998 when I entered high school. I have won Victrix Ladurim twice in a row for Sutherland High School. I have obtained my Gauteng North schools colours for breastroke and broken school records for 50m & 100m, accompanied by various medals for different galas.
- I then was introduced into open water swimming in 1999 where i have competed in events such a Midmar Mile, Witbank Mile, Germiston Mile, The Golden Mile, Bronkhorstspruit Mile, Makulu Mile, Potch Mile, Roodeplaat mile etc
